What was your apprenticeship called?

My Apprenticeship is called Higher Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. It consisted of two parts: HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Mechanical Engineering and EAL Level 4 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Manufacture (Engineering Technical Support).

How long did it take to complete?

My HNC lasted two years with the completion of my apprenticeship being in March 2022.

Can you sum up your apprenticeship in 3 words?

Enjoyable, challenging & rewarding.

What advice would you give to people considering an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships offer a great insight into the processes and challenges that can be faced in working life and give you the hands-on experience to deal with them in the future.

There are different levels of apprenticeship so find the one right for you and apply, from Intermediate (Level 2), Advanced (Level 3/A Level Equivalent), Higher (Level 4/5 Foundation Degree Equivalent) or Degree level (Level 6/7) there’s an apprenticeship scheme to suit everyone.

You get paid to learn with a guaranteed job and career plan at the end of it. Where else could you find that?

Nathan is just one of the many apprentices at AIS across multiple departments, including, IT, Finance and Manufacturing.
