Uraduct®: A versatile solution for abrasion and impact resistance
Our long-standing customer, a leader in subsea umbilical applications, needed a specialised solution to protect an umbilical that would not only withstand abrasion and impact, but also provide added weight for enhanced stability over a steel subsea structure. Additionally, the solution needed to be visible underwater and easy to install.

Solution
To address this challenge, we used Uraduct®, made from a proprietary polyurethane — a super durable, highly abrasion-resistant material certified to API 17L standards, it provides exceptional protection against both impact and abrasion. We designed a customised Uraduct® solution by inserting lead-ballasted segments into our existing moulding. Using a proven bookcase mould tool, we were able to manufacture a heavier variant of our standard Uraduct® solution. This design allowed us to achieve stability for the cable over the subsea structure, while maintaining Uraduct’s® superior abrasion and impact protection features. Uraduct® was supplied in its standard high-visibility orange, and to meet their installation requirements, we provided a specialised pneumatic tool for quick and efficient installation.
Results
Extensive internal testing was conducted to confirm the quality and fit of our solution, ensuring it met all specifications. By project completion, our customer’s requirements were fully satisfied.
